Os nomeados aos MTV Movie Awards 2012 foram anunciados. Os grandes favoritos desta edição são "Bridesmaids" e "The Hunger Games" que obtiveram, respectivamente, oito e sete nomeações. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2", "21 Jump Street" e "The Help" também obtiveram várias nomeações, superando inclusivamente "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part I" que este ano só vai lutar pela vitória em duas categorias. A ausência de "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part I" de várias categorias que dominou nos últimos anos deve-se essencialmente ao novo sistema de nomeações da MTV que, em vez de entregar o poder ao público, decidiu formar uma pequeno comité de profissionais da área do cinema que escolheram todos os nomeados. O público poderá agora votar nos seus favoritos. Os vencedores dos MTV Movie Awards serão anunciados a 3 de Junho em Los Angeles
