Os vencedores dos Independent Spirit Awards 2012 foram revelados. O drama "The Artist" venceu quatro prémios, incluindo Melhor Filme e Melhor Realizador (Michel Hazanavicius), e acabou por ser o grande vencedor desta edição dos Independent Spirit Awards que premeiam os melhores filmes indies/ baixo custo do ano. Michelle Williams (My Week With Marilyn) venceu o Prémio de Melhor Actriz Principal e Shaileen Woodley foi considerada a Melhor Actriz Secundária pelo seu brilhante trabalho em "The Descendants". "A Separation" foi considerado o Melhor Filme Estrangeiro.
